Shamir has unveiled ‘Homo Anxietatem’, his latest musical venture and first with Kill Rock Stars, set to be released on August 18. This upcoming ninth album comes on the heels of his 2022 release, ‘Heterosexuality’, and features 11 new tracks crafted with producer Hoost (Justin Tailor) in London. Reflecting on the days leading to the pandemic lockdown in early 2020, Shamir recalls enduring a high level of anxiety. Recovering from a hospital stay and elminating both weed and cigarettes from his life, he found solace in knitting an enormous baby blue sweater. Described as a tangible form of comfort, the sweater has become his prized possession, often worn and notably featured in his ‘Diet’ music video.
Speaking on the ‘Oversized Sweater’ music video, Shamir mentioned discovering the perfect room setting in Los Angeles and filming the video with Felix Donate Perez, serving both as co-director and tour manager.
