British vocalist Aluna is set to charm her fans with her second full-length record, MYCELiUM, slated for release on July 7 via the joint forces of Mad Decent and Because Music. Coinciding with this reveal, she has joined musical forces with Brazilian superstar Pabllo Vittar, the multifaceted MNEK, and British talent Eden Prince to debut the dazzling single ‘Oh the Glamour’. In a statement to the press, Aluna delved into the inspiration behind the single, stating, “The magic of glamour lies in its power to elevate and inspire, particularly those grappling with daily adversities. It’s a beacon of hope that can brighten dismal days, beautify tears, and add elegance to suffering. Despite my mother’s concern over my penchant for the finer things, to me, it’s always been about survival… because how can one endure the tribulations of life without a sprinkle of glamour?”

She elaborated on the broader significance of glamour, “The Black and LGBTQ+ communities often experience hardships, yet still manage to exude an aura of glamour. Aspirations towards glamour can act as a lifeline, getting us out of bed in the morning. When we settle for the ordinary, we risk being chained by societal expectations. Conversely, glamour can be a vessel for emancipation, festivity, and prosperity,” Aluna expressed.

Discussing the upcoming album, Aluna explained, “Mycelial networks weave into the very foundation of nature’s fabric – I’m not just talking about the visible blooms or fruits. Laying down roots is essential for future growth. My frustration peaked working with influential figures who possessed wealth but lacked a genuine appreciation for my artistic vision. I realized I was standing on hollow ground, prompting the need to establish our own solid base. While the may be lacking in spectacle, it will be rich in substance. I’ve pushed boundaries and sought out creative minds among my fan base. I’ve fostered a community of Black Ravers through Geneva and social media platforms. This album symbolizes the community I’ve cultivated,” she reflected.
