Fresh from the studio, The Pretenders have unveiled their latest melody, ‘I Daydream of You Often’, graced by the talents of Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood. This tune marks the final note and the second offering from their soon-to-be-revealed album Relentless, hot on the heels of ‘Let The Sun Come In’. Immerse yourself in its charm below.
“Jonny and I have crossed paths a couple of times, and without a doubt, we’re admirers of his extraordinary talent, which has produced some truly awe-inspiring music through the years,” said Chrissie Hyde, with enthusiasm. “I had the pleasure of attending the Phantom Thread opening where the movie played alongside a live orchestra – a captivating scene. Post-show, we exchanged a few words, and he mentioned he’d be interested in collaborating at some point. I was overjoyed and honestly quite surprised. He even dropped by one of our Valve Bone Woe performances in an intimate Pizza Express basement. So, the moment we contemplated incorporating strings within ‘I Daydream of You Often’, naturally, Jonny was our top selection. He’s nothing short of legendary!”
Adding his sentiments, Greenwood said, “To craft string arrangements for Chrissie was a privilege indeed. Her vocal prowess made the arrangement flow effortlessly. Being amongst the ranks of truly iconic vocalists in contemporary music, Chrissie’s relentless drive for creativity was a profound inspiration, from our very first correspondence to the concluding chord of the session.”
Anticipation mounts as Relentless prepares to grace the airwaves on September 15, presented by Rhino.
