Rachel Brown of the band Water From Your Eyes steps out with a fresh solo track through their project, Thanks for Coming. Rachel Brown shares a heartfelt backstory regarding the origin of ‘Unlimited Affection’:
“After returning from my initial European tour, ‘Unlimited Love’ poured out of me,” Brown shares with NYLON. “Being part of Water From Your Eyes, our music had taken us from a nationwide tour straight to Europe’s shores. As we traveled, I felt somewhat unmoored and strained by various pressures, most notably a complex relationship I was navigating. The tour marked many firsts for me: my first prolonged traveling experience, my foray into numerous back-to-back performances, and a challenge to my comfort zone – a challenge which proved to be liberating. In Europe, without the familiarity of home or language, I found joy in being completely engaged in the present. It led me to appreciate every moment afresh, as my worldview broadened extensively. Even the mundane was fascinating. I encountered life in its global uniformity and felt a sense of profound, widespread kinship. At the same time, there was heartache over a much more intimate connection in my life. Normally, my music doesn’t often carry an optimistic tone, but in creating this track, I sensed personal growth, a step towards becoming someone I aspired to be. There was hope – not for the fading romantic bond, but for love in a broader, philosophical sense; a guide to how I interact with the world and forge ties. This song also borrows its name from an album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was frequently discussed among my circle during that time.”
