Cardi B has joined forces with Megan Thee Stallion to drop their latest hit, ‘Bongos’. This marks the duo’s highly anticipated return since their 2020 hit ‘WAP’. Accompanied by a music video directed by Tanu Muino, fans can immerse themselves in the experience by watching the visual interpretation below.
In a conversation with DJ Whoo Kid on the SiriusXM show Whoo’s House, Cardi B offered insights into ‘Bongos’, noting, “It’s intriguing to ponder how fans will react to this track since many are probably expecting another ‘WAP’. To some degree, we’re addressing similar themes, albeit in a different fashion, not exactly in the ‘WAP’ manner.”
“The segment featuring Megan was extensively edited. There’s a point in the song with repeating ‘Bong, bong, bong,’ which was initially intended as the hook. However, it felt too bare, necessitating a feature,” she described. “Several voices were pushing for a Latin-inspired collaboration, but I was adamant that Megan was the perfect fit. Her presence on the track just felt irrefutable to me. Despite some expecting a Latin direction, I was confident that Megan’s vibe was the ideal complement,” Cardi B explained.
Discussing the synergy of collaborating with Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B shared: “Jumping back into the creative process is exhilarating… and it’s incredibly gratifying to know that there’s mutual trust between us. We both invest wholeheartedly not only for our own artistry but out of respect for each other’s craft. That mutual confidence really drives our work.”
’Bongos’ is the latest addition following Cardi B’s 2022 single ‘Hot Shit’. Her much-acclaimed debut album, Invasion of Privacy, hit the shelves in 2018.
