Iconic NASA Moon Landing Photos Hit the Auction Block

A collection of seminal images, capturing pivotal moments such as the iconic moon selfie, Earth’s first portrait from space, and lunar surface footprints left by astronauts, is making waves in the news and graced the covers of numerous global magazines. These historic snapshots, along with various other significant moments, are slated to go under the hammer at Bruun Rasmussen on March 9th, with an estimated total worth of 1.5 million Danish kroner.

In anticipation of the event, Lærke Bøgh, Department Head and Expert at Bruun Rasmussen, expressed her thoughts: “The era was marked by extraordinary achievements, and a wave of exuberance swept through society as mankind’s long-standing dream of lunar exploration became a reality. The period was characterized by a newfound trust in our capabilities and the endless possibilities ahead of us, and even amid the trials of those times, humanity accomplished monumental feats in space exploration, including the monumental first steps on the Moon. The photos are a vivid reflection of that era and the monumental events that unfolded, and holding the original prints captured by the astronauts on their most significant missions injects an exhilarating sense of authenticity into our digital world.”

Enthusiasts have the opportunity to preview the entire array of photographs at Bruun Rasmussen’s showcase from February 24th until February 28th. The exhibition kickoff features a discussion led by photography connoisseur Lærke Bøgh on February 24th at 4 pm, focusing on the storied legacy of these NASA images.
